Mission
Play for Life International (PFLI) uses sports to engage and empower at-risk youth to uplift, connect, and build peace. Through sports, we can change more than a moment, we can change the game.
Our Purpose
Play for Life International is dedicated to helping youth build stronger communities and better lives for themselves. We reinforce our commonalities and empower youth through convening the power of sports.
Our Practice
We engage and empower at-risk youth through sustainable and substantive programming including sport-specific programs, in school and after school programs, and the coordination of equipment donations.
"Sport strips away personality, letting the white bone of character shine through. Sport gives players an opportunity to know and test themselves."
- Rita Mae Brown |
Our Principles
- To build character and self esteem
- To foster respect
- To encourage healthy lifestyles that include
physical activity and healthy eating
- To grow a sense of community
The Hard Facts
- According to the CDC, the percentage of
younger children ages 6 to 11 who are
overweight has increased nearly 300 percent
over the past 25 years. The numbers are almost
identical for teenagers.
- Children who do not regularly exercise have
more trouble focusing, concentrating and
learning.
Our Results
- We serve over 700 children each year.
- We give children a safe place to play while
fighting the battle of idle time.
- Our volunteers dedicate over 1,000 hours to our
children each year.
